Hi, I’m Mengxin You, but you can call me Maxine. I’m a filmmaker, visual artist, and content creator working across video production, VFX, generative AI, and social media.

I earned my Master of Arts in Visual Effects from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where I developed a strong foundation in Houdini, procedural workflows, and dynamic simulations including particles, pyro, fluids, and vellum.

Beyond VFX, I’ve created and edited over 100 short-form videos for social platforms and developed independent short films from concept through final delivery. My experience spans storytelling, editing, motion design, commercial content, social media production, and AI-assisted creative workflows.

I’m especially interested in combining strong visual storytelling with emerging technology and an understanding of digital audiences. Whether I’m building a Houdini simulation, directing a short film, developing an AI-powered workflow, or creating social content, I focus on making work that is visually engaging, clear, and memorable.
